A List of Things I Don't Tell My Children

-What it was like growing up during the cold war
      The maps of major cities destroyed, the idea of a nuclear winter

-What happened at Hiroshima and Nagasaki
      The civilians causalities, the aftermath of lingering deaths

-Why for their whole lived we've been at war with Afghanistan
      why we are still there, why we went at all

-About drone warfare, how we are leaders in the technology and
      the number of people mistakenly killed by them - by us

-Why I used to fight against these things
      but got tired and lost hope

-Why I keep this list taboo
      hoping that my silence will keep them safe, and happy

-How a group of teenagers on a spring break trip made me cry
      with joy and hope
           
 But also made me afraid for them and the world we leave them
